  • Vanessa Robertson Named Scottish Fleet Manager of the Year

We’re delighted to share the exciting news that Vanessa Robertson, General Manager of our Orkney Depot, has been awarded the title of Scottish Fleet Manager of the Year at the prestigious Transport News Scottish Rewards 2025!

Vanessa has been an integral part of the Streamline team for 28 years, bringing her wealth of experience, strategic mindset, and unwavering dedication to every aspect of her role. Over the years, she has played a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of our fleet, prioritising safety, efficiency, and innovation at every turn.

Having joined Streamline Shipping Group in 1996, Vanessa started out in the POD department of our Orkney depot, following in the footsteps of her stepfather who was manager of the site.In the year following her stepfather's retirement, Vanessa took up the position of Orkney depot manager.

Starting out on a small site, made up of two portacabins stacked as offices, Vanessa’s first duty as depot manager in Orkney was to oversee and support the development of the island’s new purpose-built £1.2 million freight and logistics facility – a daunting task for anyone new to the role.

However, with her team behind her, she made this transition look effortless – a sign of things to come as the industry continued to move forward and connections to the Orkney Islands became all the more important.

During her time with us, Vanessa has been responsible for creating and implementing new local operational procedures and processes that have helped to improve the efficiency of our operations in Orkney – leading to happier customers, greater compliance and a safer workplace environment for our staff.

Furthermore, having recognised a need for improvements in the services provided to our island-based customers, Vanessa also led the implementation of our Aberdeen Gatehouse strategy as a quality control measure which was successful in reducing queries and claims.

With a natural ability and flair with her customers, sub-contractors and staff, Vanessa is an expert in managing and monitoring ferry bookings, invoices, and internal documentation and records, ensuring safety, confidentiality and compliance measures are met.

And, with Vanessa at the helm, our operations on Orkney are far smoother than they’ve ever been – primarily because she has taken each new challenge she’s been presented with, and handled it with professionalism, patience and care.

“It came as a huge surprise to hear I’d won the award but genuinely, it really is a team effort. The encouragement and support I receive from everyone at Streamline on a daily basis is appreciated and makes the job easier!” - Vanessa Robertson

The Scottish Fleet Manager of the Year award is reserved for those who demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievement in their field – something that Vanessa shows every day in her work.

Her success is a reflection of the dedication and passion that drives the entire Streamline team. We are incredibly proud to see her hard work celebrated on such a significant stage and look forward to her continued contributions to our growth and success.

Congratulations, Vanessa – you’ve made the entire Streamline family proud!
